Wales and I
As I've mentioned before, Wales is very close to my heart and I have a strong association with the country. Despite living all of my life in Derby I spend a great deal of time on the west side of the border for various reasons. My family have been holidaying in Cardiganshire for nearly forty years, thirty two of those with me in tow.
Having grown up appreciating the culture and outstanding natural beauty of the country I have become increasingly patriotic to my adopted home country. This has strengthened in part due to sporting rivalries and the banter between friends, making me strongly support the national sides in sports and keeping a close eye on political developments. Because of this, with my high level of sporting participation I always compete under the Welsh flag.
I know the Principality comes in for a great deal of stick, but frankly I don't care. It provides me with the places I love to be, either for holidaying in Llangrannog on the west coast, or tackling the magnificent mountain roads in my Subaru Impreza. Few things make me more satisfied than rumbling along the drover's road between Abergwesyn and Tregaron in mid Wales in a turbo charged rally car.
